Stained red from a lifetime of green
Curling up with lack of life
Stem longer than the shape
A worm has bitten through the flesh
Either in death or in life.
Rotten remains trim the outline
Remnants of green linger in the veins
Like blood,
green as life was,
still flowing.
The seasons have melted away vivacity
Skin is leathery and apathetic
Indifference comes with decay
The nature of cadavers.
Emaciated little leaf,
Arms curling upon yourself
Wishing to be hugged,
Death has allowed you no comfort.
Stains of brown and black
Spread like mold across the body
Death has already claimed you
Your mother tree still lives
While you,
like the pledged servant of a cruel master,
Die after a lifetime of service.
Wrinkled little leaf,
In nature your abstract body will decompose
and eventually become one again
The correlation of earth and life
Revolves around you.

Last night I watched you sleeping. Once more the nightmare came. I heard you cry out something, a word that sounded like a name. And it hurts me more than I can bare. Knowing part of you I'll never share...never know...
But still. I still believe...

Just a legend cold words on a page,
Lift up my eyes and I'm soaring away,
On silver wings spread out to the sun,
I'm leaving this city for the skies above...
